Belim's Emporium of Threads A-Woman-Sewing

On the exterior, Belim's Emporium of Threads was a quaint little cottage with a sign that simply had a threaded needle etched into it's woodgrains. The windows were small, with lanterns sitting behind each one.

Belim was a feeble old woman who shook with every move she made. Her seamstress' store was one of pure beauty, with some of her most beautiful outfits adorning the walls of the shop. Thread spools were on shelves everywhere for sale, along with multiple racks of clothing for average sized people. At the counter was a small manual cash register that Belim used for her profits.

Above the counter there was a small sign that read "Custom fittings available! Get your own unique full suit for as little as 78 Gold!"

Draegyn 16

Draegyn looked at the old lady with a blank face. "How much do you anticipate boots of his size to cost?" He asked, folding his arms across his chest as the woman searched around her cottage for materials.

"I'm going to guess that it will be roughly a hundred-twenty gold pieces, including your double price offering." The woman replied in a weak voice.

Draegyn pulled out his pouch and began counting the pieces as he lay them out on the shop's counter. "I believe that will cover it." He said, counting out a hundred fifty gold pieces to cover the extra expense that may have come. "How soon can we anticipate these boots to be done?" He asked impatiently.

The woman looked up at him as she bent over a chest to search for thick leather sheets. "I suppose they could be done by sunrise," She murmured.

"Sunrise? That's outrageous!" Draegyn shouted, losing his temper. He fumed for a few seconds before recollecting his thoughts. "Whatever, I suppose we'll just have to sit here and wait." Draegyn growled, setting himself down in a nearby chair. "This is going to take all night, what a joke." He muttered to himself.

"You are really used to throwing coin around in order to get what you want. If this woman is working by herself, then there is only so much she can do. You should be more patient, Draegyn." Turning his attention to Jax, "Find somewhere to sit, Jax, and clean your feet."

Jax 10

Jax Moved a large pile of cloth off a chair and sat down. It felt good to get off his feet. He watched the woman work on his brand new boots, while Namaarie addressed the large sores on his feet. He looked at Draegyn who was brooding in the corner. Perhaps it was time to get some rest. He closed his eyes, and slipped into a deep sleep.

Draegyn 17

Draegyn closed his eyes for a while, trying to get sleep himself, having seen that Bear was already nodding off. It was impossible. His impatience was too strong, and his family's life was in more danger than he had previously anticipated. They were so desperate now that they were after his half breed brother who clearl had no claim to the throne, so it was only a matter of time before they found Draegyn's parents.

His eyes flicked open to see the old woman almost finished with one of the incredibly large boots. Had he really fallen asleep? "I must have been more tired than i expected," he grumbled, glancing at his two fellow travelers. It was nearly morning already and the woman had only finished one boot.

Draegyn groaned and put his head in his hands. "Lady, do you dont know anything about the elixir of life and the Caine family, do you?"

The woman stopped what she was doing for a few moments. She finally continued her work."Unfortunately I do. What is it you want to know, child?"

Draegyn's head shot up from his hands in brief excitement. "Where is it located? What does it really do? Why are the Caines in possession of it above all else?" His questions came fast, in a rushed manner.

"The Caine family has been using the Pretio Mortis mines for decades to fuel that ungodly well in their basement. That well somehow kept them young while they lived here, but no one knows exactly how it was done. There was more to it than just scooping some of that violet fluid into a flask. It requires black magic child. I suggest you stay far away from that place." The old woman spoke with a tone of great severity, looking at Draegyn with intention.

Draegyn listened carefully to the woman, and something clicked inside his mind. "Wait, so they're the ones who have been destroying the planet?

The old woman nodded.

"What if we wanted to destroy the well so no one could ever use it again?" He asked, seeming quite sincere.

She stood from her chair in a very slow manner and began pacing the room. "I dont know how you would accomplish that, child. The well is likely protected by a ward of some kind. I dont know this as fact, it's only speculation. However, if you would want to attempt this, i can reveal it's location on the premise that you do not attempt to use it." She spoke again with great severity, staring Draegyn directly in the eyes.

"I would never," he lied through his teeth.

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Namarrie 23

Post by Gabriel PH Sat Jun 04, 2016 11:33 pm

Namaarie placed his hands over Jax's feet and waited for the almost involuntary impulse of light that could flow from his hands to heal Jax's feet. Looking up at Jax, he said, "This should only take a few seconds," but noticed that Jax's had fallen asleep. Namaarie eventually fell asleep too after he healed the young man's feet, but only after Draegyn nodded off.

Namaarie never really slept since he could astral project, his mind wandered while his body rested. Namaarie roamed around the quiet city and half-heartedly looked for the blond nymph, but could not find her. Night was coming to an end as he returned to the seamstress's shop. As usual, he found that Draegyn was up to no good and concocting yet another dangerous plan.

Jaximus 11

Jaximus dreamt of a great storm of snow and lightning. It swallowed the world and all those in it. Screams of every innocent filled his ears, as millions of lives were snuffed out of existence. Man dressed in shadowed black mail strode among the suffering and brought only sweet silence of death. The man grinned as he swept across the world as plague, as he ravaged the bodies of all those around him. But as the sun rose to fight back the shadow, it swelled and began to pulse, a rain of fire and obsidian lay waste to all those who could not find shelter. Then it grew cold, and silent. Entire forests withered. The rivers ran dry, and mountains blew to nothing but dust in the wind. And the man all in black came into sight again. He grinned, an ancient evil grin, his teeth yellow and rotten. When he removed his hood he had no eyes, but stones of deep red where they would have been. Blood curdled in his mouth and lured from his nose and ears. He whispered to Jax, so softly the words felt not more than a distant memory.

"Your failures will destroy this world, and everyone you love"

And with that, Jax awoke, his feet healed, and his dream half forgotten.

Draegyn 18

Draegyn felt another chill like he had the previous day. He looked over his shoulder to make sure no one was there and then readdressed the woman. Her face was contorted to one of slight disbelief.

"How can I trust that you won't use the well?" She questioned with a brow raised. She was reading right through Draegyn's facade with years of wisdom. She sat back down at the table with the enormous boots and began to work on the second one.

"I have no way to assure you that I won't use it, other than my word." Draegyn insisted, readjusting in his chair. He was so close. He knew the well was somewhere in the Caines' old home, all he had to do was find out where that home was located. "Look, I'm just going to go ask other locals where it's at if you don't tell me."

The old woman let out an exhausted sigh. "You're a cruel man, and I have a feeling that I'm going to regret telling you, but you're right. I can't do anything to stop you. The estate is named Bonechill Manor. You can find it by leaving the northern gates and traveling northeast. It's about an hour's ride on horseback. If you walk, it should take roughly five hours. You won't miss it, it's quite prestigious." The last sentences had a slight hiss to it, as if it was looked down upon to be prideful in this city.

"Thank you, ma'am," Draegyn said sincerely, reaching into his pouch and pulling out roughly twenty extra coins. He extended his hand and lay them on the circular table between them, next to the incomplete boots. "Information comes at a price, and that price I'm willing to pay."

He looked around at the other two, noticing that Bear was now awake, and Namaarie appeared to be in the process of pulling himself out of a slumber.

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Namaarie 24

Post by Gabriel PH Sun Jun 05, 2016 8:53 am

After blinking back into his body, Namaarie stood up, but not so fast that it would rouse suspicion. "Are the shoes almost done?" Namaarie walked over to the old woman to inspect her work and found that even more money had been placed before her. "Is that a bottomless coin purse, Draegyn? What other service has this woman provided for you?" Namaarie then noticed Jax sitting upright with what looked like the most blank stare on his face. "Jax, you okay? How do your feet feel?" He then came over to Jax and sat next to him, "We have a little while longer to go, she just started your second shoe. Draegyn here is working her to the bone."

Though Namaarie knew what Draegyn was up to, he had to strategically get Draegyn to cough up his scheme. "Draegyn, did I hear you guys talking about some manor while I was sleeping. Why are you interested in a manor? Looking for a summer home?"

Jax looked at Naamarie thoughtfully, and grinned at him.

"My feet feel good as new! Thank you. I feel fine, a little odd, I had a weird dream, that's all." Jax closed his eyes and tried to remember, but could only see the man's face. His mouth full of blood, and his eyes, Crimson.

Jax shuttered, and pushed the image from his mind. His stomach grumbled loudly. He hoped the other two hadn't heard, he knew Draegyn was in a rush and he had already been a burden with these boots.

"Looking for a summer home?"

Naamarie's jape brought Jax back to the conversation.

"Oh yeah, Draegalagadingdong, what's the plan from here?"

Draegyn 19

Draegyn looked inquisitively at his half breed brother. "What business is it of yours how much money I carry with me? Someone has to take care of the expenses, and I have the resources to do so." He looked back at the woman with a pleading stare not to reveal the information he had acquired.

"He wanted to know where the well was located in the old Caine manor, and threatened to ask elsewhere, so I told him there was nothing I could do to prevent him from using it. You seem like you're traveling together, perhaps I could entrust you to keep him from using it and actually destroy it? Then again, you all could be in this for the same reasons, and I would have no idea. Never you mind me, I'm rambling." She went back to working on the boots in a hurried fashion and was almost done with the second of the pair.

Draegyn glared at her with intensity as he started to reach for the money he had laid on the table, and stopped himself, withdrawing his hand. "Silence, you old hag. Just finish the damned boots. I've paid you quite enough."

He looked at his half brother and Bear and then shot a dirty look in Bear's direction. "It's Draegyn. Dray-GIN, please pronounce it as such." He said deliberately, using his hands to emphasize the syllables.

He looked back to Namaarie. "Look, we have to find that well if we have any chance of saving father. I know you could care less about my mother but he is still your father."

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Namaarie 25

Post by Gabriel PH Sun Jun 05, 2016 10:04 am

Namaarie shook his head at his brother, "Oh Draegalagadingdong, you over estimate how much I care about the man that held me captive all these years. It is in fact my father whom I could care less about. But the fact remains, unlike you, I have a soul. I can't just let people go around murdering each other." Then something occurred to Namaarie, "Whose protection are your parents under currently? How do you know they are still alive?" Then something else occured to Namaarie, what if the people who attempted to assassinate Draegyn's family were only seeking retribution for what was done to them? Draegyn's family could very well deserve to die for their sins. However, that wouldn't explain why they came for Namaarie.

Realizing he lost his train of thought, "Anyway, you might want to send message back home to see if they are still safe. You should also tell them that you're safe... and that you're with me, not that they'd care about me of course. For all I know, I might be a fugitive, after all I am an unaccounted for half-breed."

Jaximus 12

Jax sat awkwardly between the 2 quarreling brothers. His hand clasped between his knees, eyes staring directly at the ground. He wanted to say he was sure their parents were fine, but that would have been a false comfort as he had no way of knowing. He stole a glance at the boots being tailored for him, and got very excited. They looked like they might actually fit him, and protect his feet from the elements.

"Wait, what is this elixir of life? Does it grant immortality or something? Does it work on tre..." Jax stopped short. He didn't want to say too much, his problems were his own, and he should not burden others with his toils. This well sounded like a great evil anyway. He was honored that he would be able to help find it.

"Draegyn, I know you wish to protect your family. And I know that it feels like you must do everything in your power to save their lives. But magic. Old magic. It comes with a cost. It isn't paid with bags of gold and silver. It's paid with Blood, and sacrifice. These things are 2 sided and never end up the way you intend. I know first hand." He glanced at his giant Bear shield. "I Beg of you, do not try to fix your problems, only to discover you have promised a debt that you cannot pay."

The Ice Bear sat quietly for a moment. "Where are the previous owners of this well now?"

Draegyn 20

Draegyn rolled his eyes at the ridiculous name his brother had called him. "I don't care if you want him alive or not. They are under no protection, and," he paused for a few moments, "I suppose I don't have any valid proof that they are still alive at this very moment, but I will not stop trying to get what they need."

Draegyn glared at his new hired sword as he was told not to use this magic to save the lives of his family. "Bear, I think you need to worry about what I'm paying you for, and that's to guard me against enemies. If I need an advisor any time soon, I'll be sure to let you know." His tone was dripping with sarcasm. "This elixir of life is what's needed to temporarily save my family from meeting an early demise."

"I can't say I actually know where the Caine family is now, child, but I can say that it seems awfully suspicious that they just up and vanished right as the planet began to crumble. I believe their mines are directly connected to that well - I just don't know how." The old lady spoke to no one in particular. "My only logical assumption would be that the heart stones found in the Pretio Mortis mines were being used to fuel that well, and when they saw that the resources were depleting, they moved on to another."

"I knew you were trying to use this damned well. I think it's time you leave." She had just conveniently finished the last stitch on the second boot.

Draegyn stood and grabbed the boots from the table without word and extended them out to the giant.

"I'm finding that well. Join me or don't, I really don't care either way."

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Namaarie 26

Post by Gabriel PH Sun Jun 05, 2016 9:28 pm

Considering the old woman's words, Namaarie knew he had no choice. He had to go with his brother and he had to stop him if the well proved too dangerous. Draegyn's tenacity was not to be laughed at. Draegyn goes after what he wants and he will get it at all costs. However, who knows if his parents are still alive, this could all be for not. Does draegyn not want to inherit his father's estate and place in the royal council? Draegyn's love, if he is even capable of that, is not unconditional as far as Namaarie could tell. He only seemed to want people around if he could use them. So is this plan to preserve his parents lives just a part of a greater scheme that would lead to an outcome even more rewarding than his inheritance? "I will go with you, Draegyn. And if you put the people of The Galvanized City in danger, I will stop you."

Jaximus looked at Draegyn, then back at Naamarie.

"I never said I wasn't going with you Dray-Dray. I just thought I might share some life experience with you. But it falls on deaf ears, apparently." Jax frowned, and brought his attention to the new boots sitting in front of him. He grabbed them and put them on, and they fit wonderfully.

"These are magnificent! Thank you Ma'am! Even boots I had back north didn't fit this well!"

Jax admired the boots, but his mind was on Namaarie. "This is the man that truly needs and deserves my help."

Draegyn 21

Draegyn walked toward the door, glancing back at the other two. "Right, we better get moving if we want to catch this blacksmith. I know you two don't agree with this mission, but it's the only chance I've got. The resistance is too strong for us to hold up against." Draegyn pushed the door gently and exited into the streets, assuming the other two would follow him as they said.

He quickly made his way toward a nearby buildingredients that had an anvil etched into ita bronze sign. This would be where they finished Bear's boots.

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Re: Belim's Emporium of Threads

Post by Lythil Tue Jun 07, 2016 3:22 am

Lythil 5

Lythil breathed deeply, a serene smile on her face. Although she was still ankle deep in a bustling city, the sun had risen and she felt rejuvenated under its warm rays. With the morning though came many more people, and she was beginning to notice the strange glances they were giving her. What on Exitium was drawing their attention?? A drunkard on the curb let out a sharp whistle in her direction.

"What?" She asked him matter-of-factly. Confused, she looked herself over. Whoops... apparently when she took off a bolt of the thin drapes that she used for clothes late last night to clean the half-faerie's ankle she left herself a little too exposed. Not terribly so, just enough to be heavily distracting to a percent of the population. She didn't necessarily care, in fact the fewer clothes the more comfortable she was. When in the city though it was probably best to acclimate to some extent, hence the clothes in the first place.

She looked around and happened to see a cozy little shop with a needle and thread sign. Some faerie bustled out with an uptight and impatient air about him. She was glad she hadn't had to deal with people like him on her journeys so far. Anyway, a quick pop in and she could grab another bolt of material to drape on herself. She started to head that way then froze. No money. People buy things with money. She had some things in a small hip pouch she could trade for, but that hadn't gone well at the apothecary shop.

She pouted out her lip in thought and sat down at a nearby fountain. Gazing into the crystal clear water, she noticed a glimmer. She reached in and pulled out the source of the glimmer. A coin? Why was a coin in this fountain. Upon further inspection she noticed there were many. How strange people were that they threw away their money! The fountain didn't appear to be a shrine to any god in particular. Well, that was enough reason for her.

She stood and waded into the water, picking up coins as she went until the hems of her skirts were quite drenched and she had accumulated a tidy sum of coins in a pouch in the front of them. Onlookers gawked as she climbed out of the fountain and scurried her way across the street.

She sensed a familiar face before she saw it and turned in that direction.

"Namaarie!" Without a moment's hesitation she wrapped an arm around him and hugged him tightly, dropping several coins in the process. "No more running off this time! Wait here, just one second... I'll be quick." She gave a quick nod and hello to the half-giant alongside him, unquestioning, and hurried to the counter.

The poor elderly woman looked exhausted, like she had been up all night working. Poor dear. Lythil dropped the pile of coins on the counter. The woman blinked slowly as if she was barely even registering Lythil's presence in the first place.

"How much lightweight fabric can I purchase with this?" The woman eyed it, too fed up and tired to count.

"I'd guess about twenty yards of gossamer, ten of silk." Without questioning any further, she turned and began snipping a very pale lilac bolt into three yard lengths. Lythil took this opportunity to strip off most of her thin layers and wring them out into a potted plant on the floor nearby. She gave it a loving pat and heaped her wet robes on the counter. The elderly woman did a double take, but didn't question it any further. Once she was done cutting the fabric she folded it neatly into squares and laid it out for Lythil to take.

"Thank you very much ma'am. May Omnia bless you." With that, she tied off each bolt so it made one big loop and draped it over her body until she was sufficiently covered. With big steps she strode back to the Half-giant and Naamarie.

"Okay, where are we going?? Because I'm lost." She smiled sweetly at the both of them.

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Namaarie 26

Post by Gabriel PH Wed Jun 08, 2016 7:39 am

Namaarie was slightly surprised by Lythil's sudden appearance. As she instructed, he waited outside for her and when she came back out, she had new ropes. What would he tell Lythil? That he was going to Bonechill Manner? That was true, but not entirely accurate. What he was really doing was following Draegyn and Jax for the express purpose of protecting Jax from Draegyn and keeping Draegyn from causing The Galvanized City from going up in flames. The less Lythil knew, the better, Namaarie figured.

Namaarie felt that Lythil had a knowing, wise presence about her. It would be better to just let her see for herself what type of people he, Jax, and Draegyn were, rather than trying to convey it himself. Namaarie also knew that he could come off as paranoid sometimes, which was true, but he needed to get a grip. "We're following my brother, Draegyn, to an armory. You're welcomed to join." Namaarie turned toward Jax, "This is an acquaintance of mine, her name is Lythil. And Lythil, meet Jax."

Jax looked at Lythil and gave her a big goofy grin.

"A pleasure to meet you! Any friend of Namaarie is a friend of mine!"

Jax noticed how beautiful she was and grew red in the face, he turned quickly, hoping she wouldn't notice his embarrassment. He looked at Namaarie for support but he seemed to be thinking about something, and offered no assistance.

"We are heading off to Bonechill Manor to see if we can find this magic well Namaaries brother is going to use to save their family." Jax Blurted out, a little louder than he had wanted. He hopes very dearly Draegyn hadn't heard him shouting their plans to the whole city. "He'll have my head for sure."

"We Better go catch Dry-Gin."

With that Jax awkwardly walked away from the couple, his eyes fixed to the ground.

Belim's Emporium of Threads Empty Re: Belim's Emporium of Threads

Post by Arihant Sun Jun 12, 2016 11:39 pm

Arihant swaggered into the thread shop, and found the old women sleeping on the job. The place was a mess, Thread and cloth were strewn about the front room with disregard for any sort of organization. The seamstress whom Ari had invested in, had a large pile of gold sitting next to her as she slept.

"Apparently someone has been holding out profits on me."

Ari took the bag and emptied three quarters of the coins into his own purse, and thumped the gold down onto the table next to the wench, waking her from her slumber.

"Arihant! w-what are you doing here? I gave you your cut this month..."

"Ah yes, you did, am I not allowed to check up on my investments?"

"I do not control what you do or do not do, Sir, You..er...you never visit me unless there is money missing. I made sure to count it twice last month. I did." She glanced at the bag of money she forgot to hide from him, and clearly noticed it was less full than she had left it. Arihant slid one of his daggers from its sheath, and brought the tip to his forefinger, twisting the blad between his left hand until a drop of blood emerged from his skin, and rolled neatly down the edge of the blade. Dripping on the floor. Her eyes traced it until it stained her floor, and then returned his gaze.

"I-I-I Had paying customers last night just before I closed. 3 men. A Noble, a Giant, and another. I made the giant new shoes, the noble paid generously for them."

"Ahh" his voice like cream and coffee, rich and deep "I see, did they say where they were going? Why a noble would come to your pathetic shop, and not address the royal tailor?"

She sat silently, watching the blood dry on the floor.

"I haven't a clue. They all slept while I was working, they did."

This bitch was lying and he knew it. He couldn't abide liars. Her eyes twitched back and forth with fear and dishonesty, her skin puckered with goosepimples. Ari hated liars. This old hag started to look more and more like his whore mother.

"Hmm, Its a shame." Ari started to walk out the door before he turned back and looked at the woman who was clearly anxious for him to leave.

Like a bolt of lightning, Ari appeared behind the woman and grabbed her long, grey hair, and pulled her to the floor. His dagger point dug into the skin just behind her chin.

"I will gut you like a pig, threadswoman, if you do not give me the same information you gave those three."

He pushed the blade into the bottom of her mouth, and blood poured from the wound. Deep enough to hurt, almost entering the bottom of her mouth.

"Okay, okay!" she managed through her cries. He withdrew the dagger from her neck.

"The noble was paying for information about the Elixer of life. the royal family is threatened and he means to save them through the dark magic. They are headed to Bonechill manor. I think. Thats all I know."

Arihant wipes the blood from the tip of the dagger on the woman's breast, and walked towards the door, and exited without a word.
